About us

One licensed roofer, from first call to finished job.

A roof is one of the biggest things you’ll ever ask someone to look after. It should be done by people who answer the phone, turn up when they say they will and know the work inside out.

RW Roofing is based in Raumati South. We have more than 15 years in the trade, and Ross Wakeling, our Licensed Building Practitioner, leads every job. Practitioner registration is New Zealand’s licensing scheme for building work, and you can check ours on the public LBP register at any time.

We specialise in concrete tile and Longrun Colorsteel roofs, the two types you’ll see on most homes between Paekākāriki and Ōtaki. We know how they age on this coast. Wind drives rain under lifted tiles, and salt attacks fixings and unprotected edges. A small crack at a ridge can become a stained ceiling by August.

Good to know

Common questions.

Yes. Ross Wakeling, who leads every job, is a Licensed Building Practitioner in the Roofing classes. You can look up his registration on the public LBP register.

Look for cracked or crumbling mortar along the ridges and hips, shifted tiles, or flakes of pointing in your gutters. On exposed coastal roofs, pointing tends to fail sooner than people expect.

It depends on the condition of the tiles or sheets, not just their age. Sound tiles with failing pointing are often well suited to repair. An inspection will tell you which way to go.

Yes, for repairs, re-roofing and new roofs. Near the coast, good detailing and regular washing of sheltered areas such as under eaves help the roof last.

Often a like-for-like replacement is exempt, but it depends on what’s changing. Swapping heavy tiles for lighter steel, for example, may need a structural check. We’ll tell you what applies, and Kāpiti Coast District Council can confirm.

We suggest once a year, and after any severe storm. Catching a lifted tile or failed flashing early is much cheaper than fixing the water damage that follows.
